1. What is Civil Service Examination ?

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) select officers for various services including Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Indian Revenue Services and other Group 'A' and Group 'B' central jobs.

2. What is the Educational qualification for Civil Service Examination ?

The candidate must hold a degree. However Final year students can appear for Civil Service Aptitude Test , CSAT ( Earlier Civil Service Preliminary Examination) provided that they should produce the proof of passing along with main application form.

3. What is the restriction on number of attempts in Civil Service Examination?

General-4, OBC-7, SC/ST- No restriction

4. I have applied for the Civil Service Examination but I could not attend the Civil Service Aptitude Test. Does it will be counted as an attempt ?

No. An attempt is counted only if a candidate has appeared in at least one paper in Civil Service Aptitude Test.

5. What is the Age limit for Civil Services Examination ? A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on usually by August month.

6. Is there any Age Relaxation for OBC’s , SC and ST ?

Yes. OBC – 3 years , 5 Years – SC and ST.

7. I have not obtained my acknowledgement card of Preliminary/CSAT Examination. Do I get my admission ticket ?

Yes. If not rejected by UPSC. Usually every applicant will get the acknowledgement card. If you have not received the card due to postal problem, Do not get panic. Just check UPSC website with your application number or notify UPSC.

8. Can I Get question paper inf any Indian Language for Preliminary/CSAT examination ?

No. The question paper will be set in English on one side and the other side with Hindi only. 9. Can I write Civil Service Main Examination in any Indian Language ?

Yes. The candidate can choose one of the languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.

10. How do I get selected for Indian Police Service (IPS) or any service other than Indian Administrative Service (IAS) ?

There is no separate exam for IPS or for any other service. You have to specify your preferred service like IAS,IPS ,IRS etc in the main application form. Depending on your Rank and choice given in the main application form, you will be allotted IAS or IPS or any other service.

11. Where can I purchase Civil Service Main Examination application form ? You cannot purchase the Main application form. It will be supplied to you o by UPSC and you have to apply once again to UPSC within the last date mentioned therein.
